A United Kennel Club (UKC) licensed club, and established on August 5th 2002 The Hampton Roads Weight Pull Club (HRWPC) conducts all breed weight pull competitions for non-licensed clubs. The club also conducts its own UKC weight pulls and conformation events. The weight pull events tests a dog's strength and stamina based on the dog's ability to pull a maximum amount of weight on a sled or cart over a prescribed distance within a prescribed amount of time. Scores are based on the amount of weight pulled and the amount of time required to complete the pull. The type of weight vehicle may vary according to the surface of the pull area. We are a small club that is currently accepting members. Our previous events include: 1. The National American Pit Bull Association Nationals, 4-5 October 2002 in Enfield CT. 2. The United States Traditional American Bulldog Club, 26-27 July 2003 in Grantville PA. 3. The Coastal Carolina American Pit Bull Association, 2-4 April 2004 in Jacksonville NC. 4. The Old Line State Dog Club, 17-18 April 2004 in Belair MD. 5. Including other assignments for clubs such as The Mid-Atlantic Kennel Club.
